East Fife Tri 2010

Postby David McC » Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:14 pm

The entries are now open for this year's East Fife Tri on 11th April. Consider this a gentle reminder to mark the date in your diary as 'setting-up and marshalling from 7am onwards'.

The initial uptake is good - it's been open for less than 24 hours and already around 20% of the places have been taken.

Having recently become a member of East Fife Tri Club I have noticed that nobody from the club has entered our local race. Is this because it is frowned upon or is it that everyone has voted to help out at the race as opposed to entering it themselves? I myself have never participated in this local event and was thinking of doing so.

Hi Stefan...well spotted!!
Usually club members are expected to help with the marshalling at the race, but understandably some people especially new members are keen to race. What we usually request is that if you are going to race you arrange for someone (responsible!) to take your place as a marshal. They need to be available certainly for the duration of the race, and if possible to help with the setting up and taking down of equipment. It is usually an enjoyable experience (especially if the weather cooperates) and they will get a free goody bag!

If you have any further queries just ask...
Good luck at Monikie tomorrow

Guys,

Since yesterday I've received around 30 emails from competitors, all of which have been positive, all thanking the Club for holding a very successful race. I've attached a selection below.

David

Just wanted to say thanks to all at East Fife tri club for a great event yesterday. Superb organisation made it a memorable day.
Stephen Gammack

Hi David, thanks to all your team for a fantastic race. The cheering from the marshalls (and their kids) was very much appreciated on the run route, so if possible could you pass on my thanks to them.
Cheers
Ian

Hello from all at Perth Tri Club
A sincere thank you for todays fantastic triathlon. With our numbers growing steadily, Fife is becoming a true favourite amongst our members and we would like to pass on our appreciation for such a well organised and friendly event. We fully appreciate the amount of effort and time that goes into the planning as well as all the arrangements on the day.
With such great weather to help the day, we all had a ball.
Please pass on our genuine thanks to all the marshals, organisers and those behind the scenes that made the event go so well.
Cathy

Just wanted to pass on my congratulations to you and all the volunteers from all who raced from Glasgow Tri Club on a fantastic event topped off by the great weather! It was my first time of racing cupar and it was a great atmosphere all day.
Cheers
David Wilson - GTC President

Thanks so much for all the effort & organisation that went into it. Please pass on thanks to all involved. Marshalls, kids giving out water, soup/sandwiches folk, registering/timing chips etc etc.
Great day.
Siobhan Gilliland

Just a quick e-mail to say thanks for a very enjoyable and well organised tri at the weekend.
Cheers,
Graham

Many thanks to all involved at East Fife for putting on another great race. Good info before the event, well organised on the day and quick feedback of provisional results. You even sorted the weather this year. If only the council could resurface that bike road home!!

West Lothian Triathlon

Congratulations to all at EF tri club and the marshalls. It was a superbly run
event.

I really enjoyed the race, my first. The organisation was amazing: every time I could have taken a wrong turn or wasn’t sure what to do, there was someone there to keep me right. So thankyou for putting on a great race: I shall be back! And your weather in Cupar is fabulous!
Thanks, Jenny.

Just to say thanks for organising a great, well run event,
Malcolm Dippie

Hi David,
Just a quick message to say thank you and all your helpers for putting on a great event yesterday. That was my first sprint tri and I was a little nervous about it before the start but looking back there was no need as it was really well organized and for me it was a brilliant day. I really noticed and appreciated the support I had from all the Perth tri members who were there but all the marshals were fantastic and I think everyone of them cheered me on around the course as I went by, especially the guys who were handing out water just before the start / finish line, they were great, with there encouragement every time i went by.
Have a great season.
Paul
